Chris Cadman RIP

27 Aug 2022

We were saddened to hear, earlier this week, of the death of Chris Cadman.

Chris was a long serving member of the club with many seasons under his belt as a player in midfield and defence for several different sides, before becoming that most valuable of assets to a captain- a Club umpire. He was often accompanied by an Airedale terrier.

With his distinctive dress style, often capped off with a hat, Chris administered games just as he had played, with good humour and fairness. He would then be good company in the bar afterwards, always willing to chew the fat of many hockey-related (and beyond) issues.

Comments and sympathies have been received from players present and past- especially from lower XI members who remember his encouragement on the pitch and the fact that he guaranteed a whistle for teams who didn't attract regular umpires.

Funeral details follow as soon as we know them.
