Maurice Forsythe
Maurice Forsythe died in 2004, at the early age of 46.
"Mojo" as he was affectinately known at the club, came to us from Belfast's East Antrim club in 1999.
He was a combative and motivated player, and off the pitch he was effusive and garrulous; this disposition soon rubbed off on the rest of the club membership and the post-match bar on a Saturday often resounded to booming singing and raucous laughter, and that only at 5pm!
His playing career was ended by a back injury in 2001.
When Maurice died the club realised that there should be some kind of memorial to his name and in 2006 it was decided that a new trophy should be inaugurated, funded by his mother. The Celtic design of the cup was thought to be very appropriate.
That the trophy is given for the highest goalscorer is appropriate as Mo liked nothing better than the sound of ball hitting backboard with a thump!
