It was with sadness that we learned recently of the death of David Jones, a former President of the club.
Always generous with a jug of beer (and it HAD to be Youngs), David spent many an hour in the "1st XI" corner of the bar...often avoiding Jack Carter.
David was a long-serving player, before taking up umpiring. He went on to be heavily involved with the Herts & Beds Umpires Association.
Beside his commitment to the hockey club, David also served on the committee of West Herts Sports Club, and he was instrumental in protecting the interests of the sporting side of the club and the Trust when other interests within it were acting against them.
David had been ill for several years but in more recent times had been able to spend more time with his family.
